Let’s take the first step together
Getting Started with Therapy
Reaching out to a new therapist can feel like a big step, especially when you are already overwhelmed or unsure how to explain what has been happening. You do not need to have the right words or clearly defined goals before getting started.
We can begin with what has been feeling difficult lately, what you would like to feel different, and what kind of support might be helpful.
What happens after you reach out
The contact form will ask for a few basic details and give you space to share what you are looking for. You do not need to explain everything or find the perfect words. A brief description of what has been happening is enough.
We’ll start with a consultation
Our consultation gives us a chance to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, what you hope will feel different, and any questions you have. I can also tell you more about how I work and whether my experience fits the support you are seeking.
If we decide to work together
We will find a time for your first appointment and I will send the paperwork you need beforehand. Your first session will give us more time to talk about what you have been experiencing, your history, and what you would like help with.
We’ll develop a plan together
You do not need to choose a treatment method or have clearly defined goals before we meet. We will begin identifying what feels most important and decide together how we want to approach the work.
Choose the setting that works for you

In-person therapy in Santa Barbara
For clients who prefer to meet face-to-face, limited in-person appointments are available in my Santa Barbara office.
Standard therapy appointments are approximately 55 minutes. Longer EMDR intensive sessions are also available for clients who want a more concentrated format. We can discuss which option may best fit your needs during the consultation.
Standard 55-minute therapy sessions are $185. I accept select Aetna and Providence insurance plans, as well as straight Medi-Cal. Because coverage can vary between plans, I will confirm whether I am in network with your specific coverage before your first appointment.
You may also choose to work with me privately rather than use insurance. Private pay can offer greater privacy and flexibility because treatment decisions are made between us without an insurance company determining whether care is medically necessary.
EMDR intensives are billed at my private-pay rate of $185 per hour. Insurance cannot be used toward any portion of an intensive.
If you are unsure which option applies to you, we can discuss it during the consultation.
Fees and Insurance
A few things you may be wondering
How long is the consultation?
Consultation calls are free and last approximately 15 minutes. This gives us time to briefly discuss what you are looking for, answer initial questions, and consider whether working together feels like a good fit.
Do I need to prepare for the consultation?
You do not need to have clearly defined goals or know exactly how to explain what has been happening. We can begin with what has been feeling difficult and what led you to reach out.
Are sessions available online or in person?
Online therapy is available to adults throughout California. Limited in-person appointments are also available at my Santa Barbara office.
How will I know whether you accept my insurance?
After the consultation, I will have you provide images of your insurance card so I can confirm whether I am in network with your plan or you can upload your information with the intake packet. I also recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm your copayment, deductible, and any other costs you may be responsible for before beginning therapy.
What happens after the consultation?
If we decide to work together, we will find a time for your first session and you will receive the intake paperwork to complete beforehand. The consultation does not obligate you to schedule.
